onyx necklace with sketches

Black Daisy Set

What do you do with ten onyx cabochons?

Darn good question, that's what I thought.

But after bit of sketching and some failed experimenting, I present my answer.  Surprisingly, the necklace ended up fairly close to what I had originally planned -- you can see the sketches laying under it.  I'll admit that, during some of the more wayward  experiments, I thought it was going to turn out as a clunky old grandmother piece, but to my immense relief I found a better way.

This set includes my second, third, fourth.....through eleventh Half Persian wraps.  You can imagine how apprehensive I was about doing so many in one piece, as there is a great deal of opportunity for error.  Yet on the whole, it all went rather well until I was gluing the very last cabochon in place, at which point I dropped the stone (covered in fast-drying epoxy) and swore a teensy bit.
